Privacy policy for Little Now

Last updated: 14 August 2026

Little Now is a private journal a parent keeps about their child. This policy describes what the app does with what you write into it. It is short because there is not much to describe.

The short version

Little Now has no account, no server, and no analytics service. Nothing you write, photograph, record or measure is ever sent anywhere. It all stays in the app's own storage on your phone, and it leaves only if you deliberately export it and send it somewhere yourself.

There is no company holding your family's life. There is nothing for us to sell, lose, or be asked to hand over, because we never receive it.

What the app stores, and where

Everything below lives in Little Now's own container on your device, inside the folder your phone's own backup covers.

Face recognition

If you choose to add a photograph of someone so the app can recognise them later, that photograph is read on your phone, by a model that ships inside the app. No picture is uploaded and nothing is looked up anywhere.

What is kept is a list of 128 numbers describing that face. That is enough to spot the same person in another photograph and not enough to rebuild the photograph. It is stored in the app's own database on your device alongside everyone else's.

These numbers are biometric information, and we treat them accordingly:

This feature is optional. The app works fully without ever adding a person.

What we collect about you

Nothing.

There is no sign-up, no login, no email address, no advertising identifier, no crash reporting service, and no third-party analytics. The app records a small number of usage counts (for example, that an export happened) purely so it can adjust what it shows you, and those counts never leave your phone either.

The app makes no network requests of any kind for your content.

Children's information

Little Now is designed for parents and other adults, and is not directed at children. The information about a child in the app is written there by the adult using it, stays on that adult's device, and is never transmitted to us.

Because we never receive it, we cannot and do not use it for any purpose.

Permissions the app asks for

Each of these is requested at the moment it is actually needed, never on the way in, and the app works without any of them.

Subscriptions and payment

Little Now sells an optional subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card, your billing address, or your name. What the app receives from the store is the fact that a subscription is active, which is checked on your device.

Apple's and Google's own privacy policies cover that transaction:

Backups and exports

Your device backup. The app's data sits in the folder that iCloud device backup and Android Auto Backup cover, so restoring a new phone from a backup brings your memories with it. That backup belongs to you and to Apple or Google, under their terms, not ours.

Your own export. Export everything from Your data produces a single file holding your writing and every recording, video and photo the app is keeping for you. Once you send that file somewhere, it is yours to look after, and wherever you put it is governed by that service's terms rather than this policy.

Note that the export also carries the face measurements of anyone you have added, so it holds information about other people and not only about you. Keep it somewhere you would keep a photo album.

Deleting things

We hold nothing, so there is nothing for you to ask us to delete.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal information held about you by a company.

In this case those rights are satisfied by the app itself rather than by writing to us: your information is already in your possession, the app can export all of it in one file, and it can delete all of it. We are not a recipient of your information and hold no copy of it.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes in the same release. The date at the top says when it last did.
